I definitely wouldn't. Eggs are almost pure protein and fat.... Why would you even want to??? Sarah

I'm sorry, my reply sounded rude and abrupt, I didn't mean it to. The reason not to feed something like eggs is because it would be too easy for an individual BN to eat too much at once and end up with bloat. Some folks don't feed any animal proteins at all to their BN , though most algae wafers and the like contain fish meal so in reality the BN are getting some. Others, myself included, do feed small amounts. I feed live baby brine shrimp. It's tiny, it doesn't sit in one spot, and the BN have to hunt and compete for it. There is no chance a single fish can get enough at one time to cause a problem. So again, I apologize for the tone of my reply. BTW, I worked 20 years at a reptile wholesale business, your avatar picture is awesome. Since you guys keep all your cool animals to yourself, we rarely saw any carpet pythons! Such gorgeous creatures! Sarah

| About once a month we have scrambled eggs for breakfast. Before I wash the dishes I always take out few pieces from the frying pan and drop them into my community tank. No worries for my BNs though, as the tetras in my tank eat the eggs before they hit the bottom. | |

| I agree that I wouldn't recommend It for BNs. On the other hand I know people that use it for their fish that require high protein and it is a huge hit! Also you can make good fry food from hard boiled egg yolk. | |

If they eat it eagerly and thoroughly, it's probably fine. The yolk esp will cause water quality issues if not eaten, so I'd keep to amounts they clean up totally and are still looking for more once it's gone. Boiled egg yolk may fall apart into tiny pieces too fast for adult fish, that's why it makes good fry food. VictorW's idea of using bits of scrambled egg (minus any butter and sausage links )may work better than boiled. Sarah
