Well my plan worked! Both LF calicos layed eggs with this male on April 1st! No fools, lol
This was "planned" because I am entering this male Into a fish show my club is putting on in late June. I figured if he can catch a lot of attention At the show (and why shouldn't he!? He's a looker, lol) then his babies would be well sought after at the auction.
My one true regret. Not removing the clown loaches from the tank :,( The male chased one all the way to the top of the tank. When I saw this I immediately removed them to another tank. However the second one was in the cave with him and the male was soooooo upset :,( Who knows how many eggs the little *insert mean word here* could have ate....
And there is no way of knowing which eggs came from which female so I will have to wait to determine the genetics of the smaller female. This was her first clutch (is that term only for reptiles??) and the larger one's second.
I plan to move Dad and babies to the 55 fry tank on April 9th.
