| My big male ABN spawned again with one of his tank mates yesterday It has been a bit of a race for the two females sharing the tank as to who was going to get in first because they were both ripening at the same time. This morning I saw the 2nd female trying to get past him in the cave She must have been very persistant because tonight he is fanning the most enormous double clutch of eggs :http://i34.tin Unfortunately this is the male that tends to eat his eggs and both clutches he has fathered, there was only one survivor in each. Is this something he will grow out of or do I need to intervine? | |

| ive never had a male that eats eggs. ive had a few that boots eggs for the first few breedings then they get it right in time. youre never going to find out if you do interfear with them. but on the plus side if you do and the eggs are fertile youre going to get a good brood of young from two lots of eggs. balls in youre court do you want to give the male a chance and see if he gets past eating eggs. or the young from these eggs its a tuffy mate | |

| He may not be technically eating them as he is a big boy and the cave he chose is pretty short so his mouth is constantly over the eggs. Maybe too much water movement from his breathing is making the eggs perish. Either way, only pne fry from each of his two batches has survived | |

| Ahhh, Taught you well I have. many fish in your tanks i see congrads man. I too have never heard of a male eating the eggs. they boot them, they dont seem to eat them. maybe you could get a bigger cave and see if that makes a difference. with all these double spawns they will need huge caves | |
