| My first spawn of eggs hatched 6 days ago so the fry are nearly ready to leave the cave but my other female that is full of eggs keeps trying to get into the cave with the male. I'm not sure if this is normal but she forces her way in and the male then has to try and get her out she does this constantly throughout the day. I'm not sure what to make of this as this is my first time breeding Bristlenose.
Also the father is the albino in my display picture and the mother is a common but all the fry are common. Is the common gene dominant over the albino gene?

| Okay thankyou Was just a little worried cause he doesnt seem to like letting her in and tries to chase her out. The fry should be leaving the cave any day now since they hatched 6 days ago. So should i expect her to lay eggs soon after they leave? | |

| Also how long do the fry usually stay in the cave before they leave. today is day 6 since they hatched so im thinking they'll need to leave soon. | |

| Hi,They usually leave the cave anywhere between 7 and 10 days. Some males let females in to lay more eggs but some wont, he will probably let her in soon after they leave. Bristlenoses | |

| Agreed, fry can stay in the cave up to ten days. If you have a spare tank available you may want to seperate the pushy female.
I like to give my male at least a month of before spawning him again so he can recuperate from they exhausting challenge of raising those youngsters! It's not uncommon for them to go a week or two without eating while they are caring for the eggs and fry. Mine will eat if something is right outside his cave.
Congrats on the babies!

| When i woke up this morning there are a few fry outside the cave but the majority are still in so they should all start coming out over the next few days then . Also how to people syphon out the poop with little babies in the tank. My tank has no subtrates just some wood and a couple of caves but the little fry are similar colour and size to the adult poo haha. | |

| It's a pain, but when they are super little I siphon water into buckets and thoroughly check the buckets before dumping. I learned to do this raising swordtails and It works good for BNs too. | |

| Alright thanks that's what i did this morning. dont think i got any . there's about 10 or so out of the cave atm and my guess is about 25-30 or so still in the cave which is a decent spawn for an 8.5cm male and 7.5cm female on their first spawn. | |

| He might eat if you put some food right I front of the cave entrance. It' worth a try. I would definitely rest him after this though. | |

| When i try put a wafer at the entrance to the cave he pushes it away dont think he's to keen on eating atm . So when the eggs hatch how many days should i wait before tipping the fry out so i can take the cave out before my other female spawns | |

| If it were me I'd wait about a week. When I artificially hatched my eggs I left them in the trap until they were 8 days old. At that age they had already absorbed their egg yolk and were eating fresh foods.
If he's not interested in he wafer I'd leave him be for now.
