| Subject: Do all BNP stay on the small side? Fri Jun 07, 2013 12:14 am | |
| Just wondering for future reference (in case we decide to get other colors/LF in the future) - do all BNP stay small (ie 4-6 inches)?
I've had friends/family that have bought plecos (not BN) from the pet store and ended up with 12 inch monsters that show no sign of stopping.
Thanks! | |

| All bristlenose (Ancistrus) stay on the small side around 4-6 inches. There are a few that get may get slightly bigger. I've heard of male Peppermints getting up to the 17ish cm mark which is nearly 7 inches and they get alot bulkier too. Longfins may look a bit larger because of their long fins but their body lengths will be the same as their shortfin counterparts. So as long as you're sure that they are a bristlenose you should be fine. | |

| yeah, you often get the stupid pet shop owner who doesnt know a pleco from a bristlenose and you end up with horror stories like 30cm plecos in 40cm tanks. | |
