BN Tuff little species

Many many moons ago one of my first tanks 200mm x 100 x 100 I had a bn, few ramshorns and a couple of white clouds.
A bit ashamed about this......... 
After some time set up a backyard pond, an old metal bath tub, freestanding and emptied the contents of the little tank into the "pond".  No acclimatisation nothing.

Pond gets neglected most fish disappear, water level reaches few cms at best and pond sits there for if not years at least a year. I eventually decide to clean out the pond and when I turn it on its side to let out the gravel and hose it down, OUT POPS THE BN   

Water temp must have got down to at least 9  C, conservatively.  

It was a common short fin, didn't grow a hell of a lot but it was never fed went right thru at least 1 if not more  Sth Aussie winters in a freestanding metal bathtub.  

Tuff little species for a "tropical" fish.

makes you think maybe they can survive our cold south australian waterways
