PostSubject: Rena Xp 4 Filter   Rena Xp 4 Filter EmptyMon Jun 28, 2010 6:14 am

Hey guys.
I'm looking for a good canister filter to add on to one of my tanks which is mainly filled with plecos. and i was thinking the Rena XP 4 filter would do a great job.
http://www.aquariumproducts.com.au/catalogue_products.php?prodID=4239&catID=6
Im buying it from the following site.
Well its the only site i can buy from because its our local fish clubs sponsor because my parents wont let me buy from any other site and its uite cheap on this site too. also our local lfs dont have a good range of filters cheap enough and plus i get it cheaper with a 10% discount!

Has Anyone had any good experience with this filter??
Any advantages? Any disadvantages??

Thanks in advance

Yeah, they don't seem to be an all together popular filter. I suspect that is becuase people see that they can get a filter that boasts all the same features (even the ones they claim are 'unique') on cheeper models. My aquanova cansiter cost me $120 and has all the same features as the XP4 including a comparable flow rate. My aquanova lasted about 12 months before its pumphead sprang a leak, but i was pushing it pretty hard Smile and i can get a replacement pump head for about $50 cheers

I have no doubt that the XP4 will be better made than the aquanova and will prob last longer. And its not that expansive. I do agree with Deano, Eheim cansisters are the beast to compare everything to. I use 2217s as they are as tough as a bikie bar full of skinheads!

hrmmm, tough call.

bigger, more powerful Rena or the old, safe as houses Ehiem...

Persoanlly i would go the Ehiem as they are more common, reliable and spares are easy to find should you need them Smile
