| Imo bogwood is better choice as it comes from freshwater and will also add tannins to your aquarium. | |

| Basically tannins will color your water similar to tea... but will become less intense over time. I believe this dicoloring of the water is healthy for them, but I'm not sure why... | |

| make sure you soak the wood for around a month before you place it in the tank, this will help with how much of the tannins end up in the tank. the first month seems to have the most leaching. | |

Tannins do two things, firstly they have anti-fungal and anti bacterial functions and secondly it lowers the PH to something that is approaching the Amazon biotope type environment that one is trying to achieve when keeping bristlenoses. So it is a good thing the only pain is that it makes your tank look like tea. Some people do not like it. But if put to good effect it can give a very true and beneficial environment especially if keeping other Amazon biotope fish such as tetras. Marty | |

| i guess im differant then most people when it comes to the water changing color when you put the wood in your tank. if its good for the fish and makes the water better for them to spawn in then i say lets do what makes the BN feel at home and maybe they will spawn more for us . | |
