PostSubject: Cloudy film on top of gravel    Cloudy film on top of gravel EmptyMon Mar 25, 2013 9:04 am

I have set up a new tank with black gravel it has been cycling for 4 days now but on top of the gravel there seems to be a cloudy film. I have plants in but I'm now worried it could be a problem with the gravel. Never had this problem before can anyone advise me thanks

Hi and welcome to Bristlenoseworld Cloudy film on top of gravel 1514952399

Can you please answer a few questions to enable us to help you.

Did you clean the gravel well before putting it in the tank?
What are you using to cycle the tank?
Does it just look like cloudy water or does it look like a film?
Have you put any fish in the tank?
What size is the tank and what filter are you using?
Have you added anything to the water at all?

Hi sorry yes I washed the gravel. I have got a filter that hangs over the edge waterfall. I have 50 plants in which are made up to 6 bunches. The tank is 30x16x12 94.9litre I have used aqua safe. It's like a ghostly film on the surface I have tested the water all fine. No fish in yet as not been set up for long. I did have cloudy water but that cleared

Check if you'd be able to lift it with siphon.
Have you used same gravel before?
Have you checked Kh & Gh? Did it change?
