Both my Lf, F's, became ripe at the same time again and where in and out of the cave with the male over a two day period roughly two weeks ago.
Day three large cluster of eggs ejected from the cave, later that day second large cluster removed from cave.
Dad not as good as he was the first time around.
I collected the eggs and placed them in a netted enclosure where there was reasonable flow. All the eggs where very yellow. After a few days noticed many of the eggs where clear. Being a relative novice and not looking carefully at the enclosure I assumed the eggs died, not wanting to infect the good eggs I began tipping the clear eggs into the tank. It was only then I noticed the fry had hatched from the casing. I always thought they just grew from the eggs didn't know they actually hatched. I proceeded to release all the fry with yolk sacks, all the empty casings and the still yellow eggs into the tank. Over the next few days many fry everywhere throughout the tank. Most have now absorbed their yolk sack and busily swimming around and feeding.
Was disappointed at first but now that all is well I am glad I got to see what eventuates inside the cave. As long as he fertilises the eggs he can kick them out as much as he likes.
Gee I love Bristlenoses
