Not liking API algae wafers for my BNs

IT seems that these wafers expand GREATLY in the water. I know this is to be expected with dry food being placed in water, but I was not prepared for the degree of expansion I noticed. The plecs seem to eat it right away, but I am wondering if it expands in their bellies like pasta would in us. They always seem sooooo fat and enlarged after they eat this that I usually wait a day or two to feed them again. I have fed this about 5 times now and every time I fear they have bloat. After a day or two of not eating everything has passed through fine. I don't think I'll continue this product with my BNs.

Anybody else have similar or dissimilar experiences with this product?

never used them. sounds odd though. maybe presoak them before you put them is so they are already at full size when they go in the tank
