| I have always loved fish and though id start my tank up again, I wanted only bristlenose's and started looking up the best ways to breed them. thank you very very much to people on this forum whose tips were amazingly helpful
I started with an 80lt tank, 3 breeding caves (terracotta pot bases with grinded out entrances) a few shells and some drift wood, pH set to 6.8 and temp to 26 degrees I bought 7 peppermint bristlenose fry and them in there for about a week I then went and bought a female of around 8cm from a local breeder and introduced her to the tank, she started eating well and wasn't too shy I then added a male of around 10.5cm from another breeder and he was a bit more shy to begin with but also always came out to eat I feed them 2 pieces of cucumber every night and remove when i wake up. Then started ( as suggested on here) changing 30% of the water every second day, and then when a storm hit, I changed 50% of the water. After about 4 days I added water from a friends tank who had breeding birstlenoses, along with 6 of their fry which she did not want The next day the male and female were hanging out near a shell alot with a hole in the bottom, and ever since the male as not left that hole and only stick his head out every now and then. he is constantly fanning so i assume he has eggs If they are successful then I shall Post up some photos and things Cheers again for everyone success stories as it really helped me out! | |
