| well no sign yet! they have been having a good mix of veg. Cucumber, pleco wafer, deshelled pea's.have had the male clean out the sand from a plastic tube but they prefer to stay on the Bogwood.tonight i have done two 40% waterchanges this week (perhaps im changing to much ?)
im using a air powerd sponge filter maybe i should put a powerfilter in there to get a better waterflow.
whats your views on cave's i am using white waste water pipe 40mm 200mm long with one end agains the aquarium wall. would a darker cave be better?
Thanks for you advice on my new project pair.
regards Rob. | |

| i have been playing around with cave sizes for a whille and got another member to make some nice big ones up but even though they have spawned in ther the male doesn't feel secure my theory is if the male feels comfortable and he can gaurd the eggs with no interuptions then they will spawn happly, as in my case the new caves are over the top i think as females can swim in and out while he is trying to fan, and them the tank erupts as he feels threatened, i really dont think it maters what materials or shape as long as the females or other fish can't get in once they havespawned it's more the size that is the preference, i have now learned this and i beleave 816john mentioned this in another post the tighter the better get one or make one so the male and female can both fit in length ways and have it just wide enough for him to fan and high enough for the male to trap the female so see has to lay her eggs. | |

Good Posting....... the tighter the cave cave the better....i have a really small cave that i use for my smaller BN's and one morning i got up to find my big L182 inside it how he got in i'll never no but he got out ok...iam replacing my cave today to a much smaller one and i would only do small but regular water changes say 15% every other day and one major one of about 25%......But like L-Number said Cave are very important for breeding.. | |
