| The rubber bands, Your so right, I always use em. I know I probably shouldn't, as they do perish, I change em frequently, that rock is due for a new band next piece of cuc. I've not had one pop yet.. But there is always a first time, Your concern is duly noted, I really should get some of those stainless steel vegie screws. Thanks Deano | |

| Hi Moo Elastic bands for cucumbers is a no no Moo,the best way in my opinion is to use the same method as fixing your heater in the tank, whitch is use the suction stickers with a clip as to hold a heater onto the aquarium glass, cut the cucumber to fit the clip and i put mine 1/3 to 3/4 down the glass and have fun looking at them feeding on it.Another way attach it to a small piece of glass as you have done with your breeding caves, there you go problem solved?? Sorry cant put pics as i have not sorted out a camera yet, hopes this helps from an oldie thats me | |

| Thanks for your advice , I know it is risky & I have used the suction cups before, the cuc often comes off once softened tho.. I will just have to get some stainless steel screws....Although I love the small bit of glass with suction cup idea, Thanks for that... Thanks again for the advice guys.. | |

| Thanks for the kind comments.... Gezz they sure poop like elephants don't they lol
@ tigerbabrb...Is your female always in with the male? I have come up with a theory, you all could help me prove or disprove it , My female had never seen a male...she had always been alone... I wonder if keeping her keen made her spawn soon as she had a suitable cave...because she darted in that cave like a rocket before my arm was even out of the water lol..I think she was over ready to mate,..

| Hi Moo I got this pair about one month ago paid £5.00 for them and kept them in the same tank they are a young pair and never sporend before, but two months, got a breeding trio male around 5"females 3-4"after 4 days lost the male price £45.00 and swore i would not get any more breeding pairs of ancisterus, all these are albino's. Recon you have realy condisioned the female so that she was full of eggs before you interduced her to the male, some times you have to do this with corydoras speces other wise they yust dont sporen, good news is ive seen five youngsters in the tank now but still 95 short of yours ? | |

I also had the same experience with my first female albino. She had been by herself for about 5 years and as soon as I introduced a male and a log she laid. Having said that, there is also an element of good luck with the timing - she has to be ready in her cycle too.

| hmmm Interesting ... Tigerbarb...The female had always lived in my 5 foot tank with no other bns, She was relocated into the 2 footer when I had rams spawning everywhere in the 5 foot...I was never going to breed them, I actually never like them that much, only because of their constant pooping, love the fact they clean my tanks so well, I routinely buy juvies and take them back when they have gotten too big for my liking...but I loved the colouration of the female, so she was allowed to stay. then about a year later, I kept one of the juvies as I noticed Bristles coming and thought hmmm I might give breeding them a go... So I popped the male in with the fembot once he was big enough to stand up for himself, well the fembot chased him all over the tank for days ...I didn't know if she liked his inclusion in the tank or not..but left them to it...months went past and no activity breeding wise...all logs in tank are hollow with both both ends open..So I made my DIY cave that is closed one end...& introduced it to their tank, like I said in previous posts, she darted right in & started laying..Wham! Bamm! Thanks You Mamm!! A tank full of fry.... Could be just beginners luck for me too tho, trust me their is no skill involved as I really am a virgin at being a bn breeder... Keep persisting everyone, It has got to happen for you one day, Never give in..... | |

| Hi Moo Got two spare females now lost my large male so i might try swoping ether male or female over and see if that works but afraid of losing my only male as it would be cheeper to get 30+ youngsters but you dont get the satisfaction of breeding them, thats what its all about i think? | |
