Height for Bristlenose Tanks Empty
PostSubject: Height for Bristlenose Tanks   Height for Bristlenose Tanks EmptyFri Oct 01, 2010 7:27 am

While looking in the tanks last night I got wondering..... If or when I get a fish house I want some bigger breeding tanks. The tanks at the minute are 12" tall and seem to be a lot of wasted space. I thought what if the tanks were shallower then I could fit more in. The tanks would be 48"l x 18"w x ?

What would be the minimum height tank you would go for?

the issue you will have is volume of water. yes it does seem like wasted sapce but the volume of water increase is needed to enusre stable water conditions.

Thanks doug. At the moment I have 24 x 12 x 12 so a 48 x 15 x 8 would have more volume. But maybe better just sticking with the 24 x 12 x12 tanks

Hrmm, well i use the 2ft tanks to breed in as there are about the perfect size for it. the larger tank would be fine to breed in as well. you could prob have two pairs in there as it will have enough water to deal with the them and has enough floor space that the males wont become agressive towards each other
