Compatible male and female?

I finally managed to get some reasonable photos of my male and female. The female I bought as "Wild caught" As you can see there is a big difference in their colouring. Are they compatible?

They look like two different Ancistrus sp. and it's unlikely they are compatible for breeding.

I would def still give it a shot. The colouration of bristlenose has changed a lot since they have been bred.

not to mention that different species are currently named more on morphology, not on cross-breeding ability.

Well I suppose time will tell. I'll leave them in the same tank and let nature take it's course - or not.

They are definitely interested in each other Smile

though I suppose that may be a territorial thing.

I wouldnt be surprised if they breed. I would love to do some work looking at the different species of ancistrus...anyone wana chip in a salary and budget for 3 years?

i reckon $250,000 will cover it Smile

They took ages to load up for me, like a good 2 mins...not sure why?
